2011 Duck and Run 5K - Includes a Fun Run!
September 17, 2011 - 8 a.m. - Athens Alabama
Entry Fees: Pre-registration for the 5K is $15 and must be postmarked by Sept. 10, 2011. Late and Race-day registration is $20. 1-Mile Fun Run registration is $10. See Pre-Registration for online registration and payment information.
General Race Information: Begins and ends at Big Spring Memorial Park in Athens. There will be one water station about mid-way through the course and splits will be called at each mile.
Pre-Registration: Pre-register by completing and mailing a registration form with payment, or register at Active.com. ONLINE REGISTRATION CLOSED.
Packet Pickup and Late Registration will be on September 16th, from 3:00-7:00 p.m. at Sweet Peppers Deli in the Publix Shopping Center in Athens.
Race Day Registration will begin at 6:45 a.m.
Race begins at 8:00 a.m. Fun Run begins at 9:00 a.m.
T-Shirts will be guaranteed to the first 200 entrants. Must pre-register to guarantee size.
Awards Ceremony will follow shortly after the last runner is in. Awards will be presented to first place overall male and female and first place masters (over 40) male and female. Awards will also be presented three deep in both male and female age groups as follows: 10 and under; 11-14; 15-19; 20-24; 25-29; 30-34; 35-39; 40-44; 45-49; 50-54; 55-59; 60-64; 65-69; 70-79; 80 and over.
Prizes: Mid-Pack Award, Best of Limestone County, and a cash drawing (must be at awards ceremony to win). Cash amounts for Mid-Pack and cash drawing will be determined by the number of registered runners. Additional prizes to be announced. No prizes or awards for Fun Run.
Course Information: Course Certification AL10016JD Begins southbound on East Street at the Washington Street intersection. Continues south on East Street to Forrest Street and turns right. Continues to Houston Street and turns right. Continues to First Avenue and turns right. Continues to Madison Street and turns right. Continues to Market Street and turns left. Continues to Marion Street and turns right. Continues to Forrest and turns left. Continues to Beaty and turns left. Continues to Big Spring Park and turns right into the parking lot. Continues to finish a few feet before the park’s dedication monument.
