ALABAMA SCRAP TIRE PROGRAM THROUGH THE LIMESTONE COUNTY COMMISSION

A past program that recycled around 115,000 tires is returning to Limestone County.   The Limestone County Commission is excited to announce the Alabama Scrap Tire Program is back in Limestone County.   This program is made possible through a grant that was received from the Alabama Department of Environmental Management.   All tires that are recycled will be used to make different products. Residents may recycle their tires at any of the four Limestone County Commission’s District Sheds between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Tires must be loaded into the collection trailers located at each location. This program is for Limestone County residents only and is not to be used by any dealers.

District 1:

  • From Hwy. 72, turn north on Hwy 31, go past Athens High School and turn west onto Elm street. Turn north at the first traffic light onto Elkton Road and travel approximately 3-4 miles. Shed is on the left.

District 2:

  • From Hwy. 72, turn north onto Mooresville Road. Turn west onto Pepper Road. The shed is on the right.

District 3:

  • From Hwy. 72, turn south on Zehner Road. The shed is on the east side of Zehner at the intersection of Zehner and Ripley Roads.

District 4:

  • From Hwy. 72, turn north onto Lucas Ferry Rd. Go through the 4-way stop at Washington and turn west at the traffic light onto Hwy 99/Market St. Travel approximately 8 miles and turn east onto Section Line Rd. Turn onto District 4 Shed Road which takes you to the shed.
